The UMBC Ice Hockey team prides itself in its ability to draw players from across the country and abroad. Players are typically scouted or reviewed (by tape, dvd, cd, etc) and evaluated to determine where they could fit on our roster. Players may be scouted at showcases, tournaments, or league games throughout the season. If one of our scouts/coaches sees a player that stands out and could possibly fit in with our team, they will typically meet with the player following the game. Players can also contact our program of their interest by filling out our Recruit Form. This will notify our coaches and scouts of your interest, and you will be contacted shortly afterwards to possibly set up a date/time to see you play. The hockey team also holds 1-2 recruit weekends, during which a number of potential players may come for a tour of the campus, attend a hockey game, and stay with players on the team to get a better understanding of what UMBC and our hockey team is all about.

Once you are in our database, we will be in contact with you regarding the application process, financial aid, and when our hockey-sponsored visit days are. You will also have the opportunity to inquire about additional information.
