The University of Maryland, Baltimore County Ice Hockey Program was established in 1989, providing players the opportunity to continue their hockey careers while acquiring a quality education. The team participates in the highly competitive Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Hockey Association, one of the premier ACHA D-II intercollegiate hockey conferences in the United States.

The coaching staff is always looking for talented players to join our program who can make an immediate impact. Generally, UMBC recruits players from the Junior A, Junior B, Prep, Midget, and HS ranks. Players contacted, scouted and recruited through this process will be offered a tender assuring them a spot on the UMBC starting roster. Additionally, all UMBC students, walk-ons, or non-recruited players are welcome to join the team.

Today, our mission to provide the highest quality education for our players continues as we continue to build a top ACHA team. As such, several goals have been developed to allow this vision to come to fruition. These goals include building a strong recruiting program, providing a qualified coaching staff, and competing in the ACHA Nationals.
