Defensemen
2008-09: Played in 20 games and collected 9 assists and 39 penalty minutes on the season. Missed part of the year with an injury, but came back to represent the MACHA in the All-Star Challenge. Consistent and solid play at the blueline.
2007-08: Physical play helped keep opponents from net, and rushed ice to contribute offensively. Outstanding sophmore campaign and one of UMBC's top defenseman all year. Led defenseman in points for second straight season. Played 23 games, with 16 points, 17, and 116 penalty minutes.
2006-07: Rider quickly adjusted to the college game and moved into the regular defensive rotation. Strong presence on both ends of the ice. Had one goal and two assists against Wagner in the MACHA Championship Game. Rider finished his freshman year with UMBC's Top Defenseman Award and led all defenseman in points. 30 games played, 16 points, 9, and 85 penalty minutes.
Background: Played for the Junior Phantoms until the age of 15 when he was recruited to Junior hockey by the South Jersey Raptors. Utility player for Phantoms and Raptors until settling into defense at the Junior level. Physical on the blueline and in the defensive zone. Smart player that brings competitiveness to the team.
