Nik Jost began as a Freshman quietly, only taking home honors as a member of the All-Tournament Team at the ACHA Division 2 National Championships. Last year he stepped up his game and was voted the best Defenseman in the MACH and a 1st team all region selection in the ACHA. This year he already represented the ACHA on the Division 2 Select Team in Europe, but now he can once again call himself the best defenseman in the MACH, and MVP to boot.

Award recipients were announced this week from Mid Atlantic Collegiate Hockey (MACH) and Nik Jost was once again voted Best Defenceman in the league. He also finished in a tie with Rowan Forward Colin Davis in MVP voting, resulting in a co-MVP Award.

Also taking home honors for UMBC is now two-time Coach of the Year in the MACH, Aaron Voegtli. He previously took home the award two seasons ago, when he was also named the ACHA Division 2 National Coach of the Year. Coach Voegtli was instrumental in taking UMBC all the way to a program best 4th place finish at the ACHA Division 2 National Championships in Simsbury, CT; in just his first year with the program. In the two plus seasons with Voegtli behind the bench, UMBC is 70-21-3 with 3 regular season MACH Championships, 2 playoff MACH Championships, and 2 ACHA Division 2 National Championship berths (playoffs and a nationals berth are still to be determined this season).

Co-MVP Colin Davis from Rowan also took home best forward, while Penn St Thomas Badali took home best goaltender.
