Jon grew up in the Annapolis area and went to Archbishop Spalding High School where he helped lead Spalding to their first ever Maryland State Hockey Championship in 1997.  After graduating from Archbishop Spalding, Jon attended Duquesne University (ACHA Div 1) where he played collegiate hockey for the Dukes during the 2001-2002 season.  After the completion of his freshman year, Jon transferred back home to Towson University where he played for three seasons for Towson University (ACHA Div 1).  While at Towson, Jon was known as a very physical stay at home defenseman.  During his playing days at Towson, Jon won the ECHA regular season title once, played in two ECHA Championship games and competed in two ACHA Division 1 Nationals Tournaments.  In January 2005, Jon graduated from Towson University with a Bachelors of Science in Sociology and a concentration in Criminal Justice. 

In 2006 Jon began his coaching career as an assistant coach for Walter Johnson High School.  During that season Walter Johnson had an undefeated regular season.  After his stint at Walter Johnson, Jon was hired as the head coach by his alma mater, Towson University.  Jon inherited a program that was 3-25 the prior season.  In his first season at Towson, the program improved to 12-14-1 and Jon was nominated for ACHA Division 1 Coach of the Year.  The following year Towson improved again on their previous record to 19-13-1.  For his efforts, Jon was named ECHA Coach of the Year and was once again nominated for ACHA Divion 1 Coach of the Year.  Jon was also selected as an Assistant Coach for the ACHA Division 1 All Star game for the 2008-2009 season. 

This past season Jon was the Assistant Coach for the United States Naval Academy where he coached the defense and the penalty kill. 

Jon resides in Crofton with his wife, Susan and works for the Anne Arundel County Police Department.  He is currently assigned to the Traffic Safety Section.
