Background:
John can play both forward and defense, and will be part of defensive corps for the Retrievers.  Played with the Little Flyers Jr B program of the Metropolitan Junior Hockey League (MJHL) and the Philadelphia Junior Patriots Jr B of the Continental Hockey Association (CHA).  Helped lead the Patriots to the CHA playoffs.

Son of Rea and Bob Lavery. Has three sisters and a brother. Born October 13, 1988.
