2008-09: Consistent play, topping first year totals with 40 goals, 34 assists, and 42 penalty minutes. Scored 2 goals against defending National Champion Davenport at the ACHA Showcase. Ranks 3rd UMBC All-time in points per game with 2.24 average. Selected to second straight MACHA All-Star team and received ACHA Southeast All-Region 2nd Team award.
2007-08: Drew entered the program with high expectations and lived up to his billing. He helped fill the vacancies left on our top line after the graduation of seniors Post, Morgan, Stella, and Ung. Drew tallied a goal in his first game with UMBC and finished the season as the team's leading scorer. Had two shorthanded goals against Georgetown in 17 seconds. He closed out his freshman season with 29 games, 65 points, 37, and 40 penalty minutes. Drew received MACHA All-Star and ACHA All-Region accolades to complement his season.
Background: Drew came to UMBC from the Wichita Falls Wildcats where he was taken 26th overall in the 2006 NAHL draft. Drew is a two time "Dallas Morning News High School Hockey Player of the year". He led Marcus High to the 2006 Texas Cup State Championship with a 4 goal first period performance. Drew still holds the single season and all time scoring records in the AT&T Metroplex High School Hockey League. As a Junior he finished among the top 10 scorers in the 2005 Chicago High School Showcase and as a Tier I AAA Midget lead his team to the LA Junior Kings Major Midget 2006 Carman Starr Classic Championship and was selected Tournament MVP.
